Fair Lawn Emergency Management is monitoring Tropical Storm Nicole. The remnants of Post Tropical Depression Nicole will affect our area beginning this afternoon through tomorrow, Saturday morning. The heaviest rain is expected to be late this afternoon into early Saturday morning. Average rainfall totals are expected to be 1 to 1.5 inches for the entire event. Up to 2 inches of rainfall is possible, depending on where the heaviest rain bands setup. Isolated thunderstorms are possible. The heaviest rain bands from these thunderstorms can cause flash flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas. This will be exacerbated by all of the leaves currently on the ground and the potential clogging of catch basins. Please be sure to take appropriate mitigation actions to protect flood prone properties.
 
Winds will be 15-20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. The winds may cause down tree limbs, resulting in power outages.
