Shooting on Santa Rosa Creek Trail Leads to Arrest
On November 11, 2022, at 11:13 a.m., Santa Rosa Police Officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of Bay Village Circle for a shooting. A caller to SRPD reported seeing a male subject with a handgun on a nearby creek path. The suspect approached two subjects on the creek path and shot at the couple approximately 3 times. The victims were not struck by the gunfire and the suspect fled the scene.
Officers arrived and attempted to locate the fleeing suspect. Their efforts were unsuccessful, and they began processing the scene with SRPD Field and Evidence Technicians.
The Violent Crimes Investigation Team also responded and took over the investigation. As a result of their investigation, detectives identified a 28-year-old Santa Rosa resident, Vincent Cervantes, as a suspect in the crime.
At around 7:14 p.m., Santa Rosa Police Detectives with the assistance of the Santa Rosa Police SWAT Team served search and arrest warrants in the 2800 block of Pioneer Way. Santa Rosa Police SWAT members arrested Cervantes at his residence without incident.
Santa Rosa Police Detectives searched the residence and located additional evidence related to the shooting.
Santa Rosa Police Officers booked Cervantes into the county jail for the following charges:
- Two counts of 245(a)(2) PC – Assault with a Firearm.
- 30305(a)(1) PC – Felon in Possession of Ammunition
