Driver arrested for DUI and Hit and Run
On Friday, November 11, 2022, at approximately 8:12 PM, Petaluma Police Department officers and Petaluma Fire Department were dispatched to the 300 block of Stony Point Road for a report of vehicle collision into a house. Officers arrived on scene and found a vehicle had struck a fence. Another damaged fence was also located. The driver, Suspect Pamela Long, a 66-year-old, Petaluma resident, attempted to flee in the vehicle, before officers arrived but could not because of being stuck on the fence posts. A witness reported seeing Long flee on foot to her residence. Officers contacted Long and conducted a DUI investigation. Long was determined to be DUI and arrested. Long was a .19% BAC. and was also arrested for Hit and Run and Resisting Arrest.
The Petaluma Police Department has made 263 DUI arrests since January 1, 2022, comparted to 151 DUI arrests during the same period in 2021. With the Holiday Season approaching, drivers should avoid drinking and driving. During the week of Thanksgiving, families are traveling farther, and traffic is up by 53 percent across the country. Nearly five times the number of drinking-related fatalities happen during the period between Wednesday before and Thanksgiving than on any other holiday.
