On November 2, 2022, at approximately 10:08 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were called to Parker’s gas station located at 856 Sea Island Parkway, Saint Helena, SC for a complaint of gunfire.

When they arrived, there was evidence of gunfire found in the parking lot however no victims were located.  A short time later, deputies were called to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for a complaint of a man with a gunshot wound to his leg. 

The investigation revealed that there was an altercation between two people inside the gas station.  The parties separated and one person ran out of the store.  As he was running away, he was shot.

Investigators collected evidence and reviewed video surveillance from the store. 

Through the investigation, 42-year-old John Henry Jenkins of Saint Helena Island was identified as the person responsible for the shooting.  

John Henry Jenkins is currently wanted for attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and aggravated breach of peace.

As of the time of this advisory, John Henry Jenkins has not been located and remains at large.
