New Vista Middle School False Report of Active Shooter 
Lancaster Station received a call for service from a male juvenile regarding an assault with a deadly weapon (active shooter) at New Vista Middle School. At this time, we can confirm the call was a hoax. Upon our arrival, there was no evidence of an active shooter, however deputies consider these calls serious and took all necessary precautions.
The school was placed on lockdown in accordance to procedure and out of an abundance of caution.
LASD deputies systematically cleared the campus. There were no victims or evidence of an active shooter on the campus. The school is currently being cleared and deemed safe by deputy personnel.
There is no information on who placed the call, and the source is currently under investigation by Lancaster Station.
Thank you to all the family members for your patience and cooperation during this incident. At this time we have designated Jack Northrup Elementary School, located at 835 E Ave K, as a pick up location for New Vista Middle School students.
