IMPD Homicide Detectives Make Quick Arrest in Tuesday Morning Homicide Investigation

INDIANAPOLIS-Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) arrested 46-year-old Anvictor Butler for his alleged involvement in a recent homicide.

On Tuesday, November 15, 2022, just before 10:00 a.m., IMPD Southeast District officers were dispatched to Southeastern Avenue and S. Emerson Avenue on a report of shots fired. Officers arrived and located an unidentified male, near Southeastern Avenue and Minnesota Street, who sustained injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s). Beech Grove Emergency Medical Services arrived and transported the victim to an area hospital in critical condition. Shortly after arrival, the victim was unfortunately pronounced deceased by medical staff.

IMPD homicide detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to identify and collect potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner's Office assisted and determined the exact cause and manner of death. The MCCO will release the decedent’s name once a proper next-of-kin notification has been made.

The investigation continued and detectives were able to identify a person of interest. Subsequently, for his alleged involvement in the death of 30-year-old Dustin Phipps detectives arrested Anvictor Butler for murder. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) will make the final charging decisions.
