Suspect arrested for illegal firearms possession after altercation at a restaurant

On 11/16/22, at approximately 8:57 PM, the Santa Rosa Police Department received a 911 call regarding a male subject that displayed a handgun during an altercation at a restaurant in the 200 block of Mission Blvd.  The caller remained on the line with the Dispatch center and provided a description of the suspect.

The suspect left the restaurant as a Special Enforcement Team (SET) vehicle turned onto Mission Blvd.  The SET officers contacted the suspect, but instead of stopping, he began running away from the officers.  After a short foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody.  While taking him into custody, he dropped a loaded Glock handgun.

Additional Santa Rosa Police Officers arrived and interviewed the people at the restaurant.

The suspect was Cloverdale resident, 38-year-old, Mostafa Sarah.

The handgun was not reported stolen, but it also was not registered to Sarah.

Sarah was transported to the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention facility where he was booked for the following charges:
-25850(c)(6) PC – Carry loaded firearm (felony)
-25400(A)(2)PC - Carry loaded concealed firearm (felony)
-422(a)PC – Criminal threats (felony)
-148(a)(1)PC – resist/obstruct arrest (misdemeanor)
