Residents in Westchester County have been victims of a an ongoing fraud scheme that involves a fake Con Edison representative calling and requesting immediate payment via Zelle app or the Power/Heat will be turned off. The phone number related to the calls acts as a legitimate call service 1-844-810-2814 with options to speak with a representative. The Suspects have the correct account names and numbers of the victims on file making the scheme even more believable. Payments from the investigation were made via the Zelle app to a phone number out of NYC. If you receive this type of call, please do not make a payment, hang up, and call Con Edison customer service at 1-800-752-6633 to verify your account is in good standing. Please help us spread the word out regarding this scam to the elderly, who may not have this platform.
