A green industrial pigment leaked early this morning from a truck carrying a tote of the product, which resulted in green splatter on County Line Road, Veterans Boulevard, and North Frontage Road in Burr Ridge.  A hazardous materials response team from Tri-State Fire Protection District examined the leaking tote and determined that its spilled contents were not a concern.  Cleanup crews retained by the trucking company are currently using materials to scour the pigment from the roadway; however, green splatter is expected to remain evident for some time.  The pigment has dried and hardened; therefore, it is not known to be tracking onto tires or splashing onto vehicles. 

Our Village’s Public Works Supervisor noticed this spill during early morning snow and ice control operations, and proactively initiated the call to Tri-State.  The Village will continue to monitor the cleanup work, but is satisfied by the findings of the fire protection district that this spill was not a health or hazardous concern.
