Drivers Arrested in 2 Separate Vehicle Pursuits in Petaluma.

On Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at approximately 12:19 PM, an officer working traffic enforcement near Casa Grande High School, heard audible tire friction and observed a vehicle loose traction on Ely Blvd at Capistrano Way.  The vehicle regained traction and sped southbound at approximately 80 MPH in the 30 MPH zone.  The officer activated his emergency lights, hoping the vehicle would slow down as it approached the School Zone.  Instead, the vehicle, accelerated further.  The suspect vehicle, a dark BMW sedan, passed the officer’s location, passing 2 slower vehicles and turned east on Cross Creek Drive.  The office briefly lost sight of the vehicle on Garfield Drive, but then found the vehicle parked and unoccupied on Wren Lane.  Officers began searching the area and found Suspect Miguel Angel Ramirez Saucedo, an 18-year-old, from Petaluma.  Suspect Saucedo, admitted to being the driver and said he took his father’s vehicle out for a ride.   Suspect Saucedo had not been issued a driver’s license.  He was arrested for reckless driving, evading a police officer, and obstructing a police officer.  He was transported to the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility.
 
On Thursday, November 17, 2022, at approximately 2:44 PM, an officer attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle that had suspended registration since March 2022.  The officer attempted to catch up to the vehicle on East Washington, but the vehicle entered northbound 101 and started to try and evade the officer by passing vehicles by multiple lane changes.  The officer caught up to the vehicle, just south of Cotati and attempted to make a traffic stop.  The vehicle continued past the Cotati/ HWY 116 exit and took the Rohnert Park Expressway exit.  The vehicle stopped in the in the 6000 block of Redwood Drive.   The driver, Starsha S. Develder, a 35-year-old, Novato resident was arrested for evading a police officer.  Officers could not determine if she had a valid driver’s license.  Develder was transported to the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility.
 
The police department wants to thank those community members who have been reporting traffic issues, such as in the area of Casa Grande High School.  The department is committed to making School Zones a safe place for students, staff, and neighbors.
