SOUTH COUNTY GUN BUYBACK PROGRAM

2022 South County Gun Buyback Program
Press Release

South County Law Enforcement Offers Cash for Unwanted Firearms

The Morgan Hill Police Department, along with other South County law enforcement agencies, are asking the public to turn in unwanted guns on December 10, 2022.

In return, the Buyback Program will pay cash and help create a safer environment where it is harder for the suicidal, children, and criminals to access dangerous weapons.
“The gun buyback comes three weeks after Morgan Hill Detectives, in partnership with the District Attorney’s Office, arrested four gang members suspected of shooting and killing two people in 2020 and 2021. At the time of arrest, one of the suspects had a loaded ghost gun.” Chief Palsgrove said. “The gun buyback program allows us to partner with our community to prevent a stolen gun from ending up on the streets, used in a homicide, suicide, or an accidental death.”
