The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito November 4th to November 6th, 2022.
November 4th
Battery – San Pablo Ave at Carlson Blvd.
At approximately 10:41am the victim stood in front of an AC transit and began taking pictures of the bus. The two suspects exited the bus and were upset the victim was blocking the bus. A verbal argument ensued and the suspects grabbed the victim, dragged him to the east curb of San Pablo Ave and threw him to the ground. The suspects got back on the bus, which continued on its route southbound on San Pablo Ave. The suspects were two black male adults, 40-50 years old, one medium build and the other had a potbelly.
Strong Armed Robbery – Exxon 10602 San Pablo Ave.
At approximately 12:33pm, while parked at the gas station, the victim was pulled out of his delivery van, and pushed against a wall by one of the suspects. The other suspect went inside and stole a box of marijuana. The victim works for a marijuana dispensary in Oakland. The suspects fled in a gray 4-door Lexus. The suspects were described as black male adults, in their 30’s, one wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and the other wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
Grand Theft- 3400 Block of Carlson Blvd.
At 11:55pm, an officer reports a known suspect stole three cellphones, bank cards, car keys, and two bags belonging to the victim after a verbal argument. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. Total loss: $995.00.
Attempt Grand Theft – 600 Block of Ashbury Ave.
At 3:08am, an officer reports the witnesses were woken up by the sound of sawing noises. The neighbor noticed two unknown suspects were attempting to remove a neighbor’s catalytic converter. The neighbors scared the suspects off before they could complete the theft.
November 5th
Commercial Burglary – Penndel’s Bake House 6491 Portola Dr.
An unknown suspect shattered the front glass window of the business and stole a small safe in the office containing $500.00. The incident occurred from Friday November 4th at 6pm to Saturday November 5th at 6am.
Shoplift/ Possession of a Controlled Substance- 10794 San Pablo Ave. (Marshall’s)
At approximately 6:58pm, officers were dispatch to Marshall’s for a theft that had just occurred. An officer circulating the area located the suspect pushing a shopping cart full of merchandise approximately a block away. The suspect was positively identified by the witness and placed under citizen’s arrest by an employee. During a search, the male was found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl. He was booked at the ECPD and released on a citation.
Commercial Burglary – Quickly 3080 El Cerrito Plaza
An unknown suspect shattered the rear glass door of the business and stole the cash register which contained over $2000.00. The incident occurred from Friday November 4th at 7pm to Saturday November 5th at 9:50am.
Commercial Burglary – Banana Leaf 11810 San Pablo Ave.
An unknown suspect forced open the rear door to the business to gain entry. The suspect stole a tablet and a small safe behind the counter which contained approximately $400.00 in cash. The incident occurred from Friday November 4th at 9:30pm to Saturday November 5th at 4:59pm.
Grand Theft – 100 block of San Carlos Ave.
At approximately 3:43pm an unknown suspect stole the victim’s catalytic converter from their Honda Element. A witness saw a white Acura SUV (license plate #CRA1756) fleeing southbound on San Carlos Ave. towards Lynn Ave., with a female passenger inside with dark hair.
Stolen Vehicle and Grand Theft– Norvell Ave./Waldo Ave.
At 3:58pm a citizen reported an unoccupied suspicious white GMC truck parked in the area for the past 30 minutes, with the engine running and the windows rolled down. The truck was stolen from the 1400 block of Norvell St. The ignition was damaged and the catalytic converter was stolen.
A neighbor heard a sawing noise in the area and saw a white Acura MDX (Arizona license plate #CRA1756), parked next to the GMC truck.
November 6th
Stolen Vehicle – 2000 block of Key Blvd.
At approximately 6:01am two suspects stole the victims Honda Del Sol from their driveway. The suspects arrived in a gold vehicle and fled northbound on Key Blvd towards MacDonald Ave.
Recovered Stolen Vehicle – San Pablo Ave at Ohio Ave. –
At approximately 11:50am an El Cerrito police officer located the victims stolen Honda Motorcycle parked unoccupied. The owner responded and took possession of the motorcycle.
Theft from Vehicle – 6600 block of Lagunitas Ave.
An unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole a flashlight and misc. paperwork. The victim’s surveillance footage shows a suspicious light colored sedan driving in the area at approximately 3:00 am this morning.
Indecent Exposure – Central Ave at Carlson Blvd.
A red van, driven by the suspect, stopped next to the 14-year-old female juvenile victim, who was walking southbound on Carlson Blvd at Central Ave. The suspect asked the juvenile for directions, but she did not understand him. The suspect asked the juvenile if she knew what this was. The juvenile looked into the van and saw the suspect’s penis out of his pants. The suspect drove away in an unknown direction of flight. The juvenile called her father, who called the police to report the incident.
The suspect was described as a white male adult in his 60’s, missing teeth, balding at the top of his head with hair on the sides, wearing dark colored sunglass and a t-shirt. The incident occurred from 12:50pm to 12:55pm.
Organized Retail Theft – Sketcher’s 5805 Cutting Blvd.
At approximately 3:10pm hours, two suspects loaded a large garbage bag full of shoes worth approximately $1500.00, and exited the store without attempting to pay for the shoes. The suspect got into a gold truck, with a camper shell, which northbound through the parking lot towards Knott Ave.
The first suspect was described a black male adult, 30’s, wearing a black beanie, blue jeans and a black jacket.
The second suspect was described as a black female adult, 30’s, wearing a white tank top and gray sweatpants.
Assault with a Deadly Weapon-5800 Block of Alta Punta Ave.
At approximately 7:14pm, officers were dispatch to a disturbance. While en-route, Dispatch advised one of the subjects had been stabbed. During the investigation, officers discovered two family members got into a verbal argument. During the argument, both subjects armed themselves with knives and began jabbing each other at each other. The suspect made contact with the victim causing a small laceration to the arm. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The victim declined any medical assistance. The suspect was booked at the ECPD and transported to the MDF.
Petty Theft-1000 El Cerrito Plaza (IFO Lucky)
At 9:12pm, an officer reports the victim left his dog and other property IFO Lucky. Upon return, the victim discovered an unknown suspect stole his dog and other property.
