The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito November 7th to November 10th, 2022.
November 7th
Trespassing, Providing false information to officers, Warrant arrest – 600 block of Elm St.
Officers were dispatched to a residence after a 30-year-old transient man attempted to enter the victim’s house by pushing open the front door. Officers detained the man several blocks away and the man provided officers with a few false names. When his true identity was learned, the man was found to be a parolee at large. The man was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Stolen vehicle – 6400 block of Knott Ave.
An officer reports that the victim’s delivery truck was stolen while he was delivering packages.
Grand theft – 1700 block of Eastshore Blvd.
An officer reports that an unknown suspect stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s vehicle, sometime overnight.
Organized Retail Theft – 11545 San Pablo Ave (Ross)
At 6:53 PM, four banned subjects entered the store and grabbed numerous items ($1120) and fled the store without paying. They were last seen running towards BART. The suspects were described as:
- S1-BMA, 40-50, 5’09”-5’11”, thin build, dark jacket blue jeans
- S2-BMA, 35-40 5’11”, thin build, blk/gry beard, multi-color jacket, blk hoodie, blk beanie, blue jeans
- S3-BFA, 30-40, 5’3”-5’04”, thin build, freckles on face, blk hoodie and blk leggings
- S4-BFA, 20’s, afro, lesions on her face, multi-color jacket, gray hoodie
Attempt Robbery – BART Path @ Eureka Ave
At 7:20 PM, the victim was riding his bicycle southbound on the BART path at Eureka Ave. when two suspects approached him from behind. S2 grabbed his left arm and placed an unknown object on his cheek as S1 told the victim to “give it up”. The victim dropped his bicycle and ran away. The suspects ran to Lincoln Ave. and possibly jumped into an unknown vehicle that fled eastbound. No loss reported.
- S1-unknown race, black/green jacket, black hoodie, and black pants
- S2-BMA, 20’s 5’10” wearing all black clothing.
Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave./ El Dorado Ave.
At 8:44 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a headlight out. During a records check, he discovered the driver, a 43 year old Richmond man, had an active $75K warrant out of Colma PD. After booking, the man was transported to the MDF.
November 8th
Battery – 9937 San Pablo Ave. (Llama Bar)
At 12:20 AM, the victim and his friends were at the bar drinking. One of the friends, a 37 year old Berkeley man, was trying to get the victim to take a shot. When the victim refused, the suspect punched and kicked the victim several times.
Unlawful fire – 11400 block of San Pablo Ave.
An officer reports that a business owner found a pile of burnt garbage that appeared to be from a transient subject seeking shelter.
Grand theft, organized retail theft – Ross, 11545 San Pablo Ave.
An officer reports that 3 unknown suspects entered the store, selected over $4000 of merchandise, and fled without paying.
Vandalism – 10200 block of San Pablo Ave.
An officer reports that an unknown suspect used a sharp object to punch holes in the trunk lid of the victim’s vehicle.
Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave/ Carlson Blvd.
At 7:22 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle after the driver made an illegal turn. During a records check, the driver, a 46 year old Richmond woman, was found to have an active $50K traffic warrant out of San Bernardino. A citation was issued.
November 9th
Grand Theft – 10944 San Pablo Ave.
At 2:31 AM, two unknown suspects stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s Prius. The suspects were last seen fleeing eastbound on Manila Ave. in a dark colored 90’s Honda Accord.
Shoplift – Ross, 2000 El Cerrito Plaza
An officer reports that an unknown suspect entered the store, concealed merchandise, and fled without paying.
Grand Theft, Organized retail theft – Foot Locker, 430 El Cerrito Plaza
An officer reports that two unknown suspects entered the business, grabbed over $4000 worth of clothing, and fled the store without paying.
Battery (Hate Crime) – CVS 670 El Cerrito Plaza
At 6:35 PM, an employee, who is a transgender female, asked the suspect, who is a habitual thief, to leave the store. The suspect made derogatory comments about the victim’s gender preference, punched the victim in the ribs three times and fled the store. The victim declined medical attention at the scene.
The suspect was described as a BMA, 6’3”, heavy set, 250lbs. – 260lbs, bald, white mask, black beanie, black jacket, and black shoes.
Warrant Arrest / Possess Controlled Substance / Felon in Possession of Stun Gun – San Pablo Ave at Potrero Ave.
At 7:49 PM, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 48 year old Oakland man for a no-cite controlled substance warrant. The man was on Felony probation for possession of controlled substances and was in possession of a stun gun and methamphetamine. Cite release on new charges. To MDF on the warrant.
Shoot into Inhabited Dwelling – S. 53rd at School St. – At 8:17 PM, officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area. RPD’s ShotSpotter recorded (6) gun shots fired at the corner. Officers located (6) shell casings, and a pair of sunglasses on the southeast corner of the intersection. Two possible projectiles were imbedded above the garage of a nearby residence. The shell casings and sunglasses were collected as evidence. No injuries or any other damage was reported.
November 10th
Warrant arrest – 6000 block of Central Ave.
An officer was dispatched to the area after a subject kicked the front door of a business. Officers located the 41-year-old transient man that was responsible. A records check revealed the man had a parolee at large warrant for his arrest. The man was arrested, booked, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Commercial burglary – 11200 block of San Pablo Ave.
On 11/9/22 at 1:58 am, an unknown suspect smashed the front window of a business and stole alcohol.
