The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito November 11th to November 14th, 2022.

 
November 11th
 
Auto Burglary – 400 block of Kearney St.  
An unknown suspect shattered the front passenger side window to the victim’s vehicle and stole the vehicle registration. The incident occurred last night from 8pm to 8am this morning.
 
Commercial Burglary – Tigon Restaurant 10086 San Pablo Ave.
An unknown suspect shattered the front glass door to the business, and unlocked the door to gain entry.  The suspect stole soda and an IPad.  The burglary occurred last night from 9pm to 7am this morning.
 
Residential Burglary – 6000 block of Jordan Ave.
The suspect entered the victim’s garage and stole two bicycles.  The victim accidently left their garage door opened last night.  The incident occurred from 10pm last night to 8:30am this morning.
 
Harassing/Annoying Phone Messages – 2600 block of Monte Vista
At approximately 4:29pm the victim received text messages from a family member, who stated they wanted to kill him.  The victim believes it is regarding another family member who was recently released from jail. 
 
Elder Abuse – Waldo Ave at San Pablo Ave.
At approximately 4:52pm a 65 year old male was crossing in the crosswalk, in front of a light green colored Subaru sedan that was stopped at the intersection.  The passenger in the Subaru yelled at the victim to move faster.  When the victim yelled back, the passenger exited the vehicle, grabbed the victim and threw him down on the sidewalk.  The passenger got back into the Subaru, which fled northbound on San Pablo Ave.  The victim suffered a small laceration to his hand, but declined medical attention. 
 
The suspect was described as a white male adult, in his 20’s, wearing a blue baseball cap, white tank top and blue pants.  The victim described the driver of the Subaru as a white male in his 20’s.
 
 
November 12th
 
Assault with a Deadly Weapon – 6060 Central Avenue (Nation’s);
At 8:44 pm officers were sent to the report of a stabbing in the parking lot of Nation’s.  When officers arrived they found a subject that had been cut with a sharp objet many times.  The suspect had fled the scene before officers arrived. 
 
Petty Theft – 10636 San Pablo Avenue (24-Hour Fitness);
At 11:22 pm an officer was sent to the report that someone had cut the lock off of a locker and stole the property from within. 
 
November 13th
 
Vandalism – 6400 block of Portola Dr.
At approximately 5:44am a neighbor heard the sound of someone kicking in a door to an apartment above his.  When officers arrived, they located a damaged front door to an apartment on the third floor.  The owner was not home and no subjects were located inside.  The owner contacted the police and stated nothing appeared to be taken from the residence.   
 
Shoplifting – Lucky 1000 El Cerrito Plaza
At approximately 9:05am the suspect walked out of the store with unpaid packages of meat and fled eastbound on Fairmount Ave. While exiting the store, the suspect pushed an elderly customer, however the customer left prior to police arrival.  The suspect was described as a black male adult, wearing a black puffy jacket with a hood, black baseball cap, and jeans.
 
Trespassing – 500 block of Oak St.
At approximately 9:42am the owner of a residence received information from neighbors that there were squatters living inside his abandoned house.  Officers located a 43 year old male from Richmond and a 51 year old female from Richmond, sleeping inside.  The subjects were placed under citizen’s arrest by the owner.  After being positively identified, the suspects were released on a citation. 
 
Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 11565 San Pablo Avenue;
At 8:00 pm a victim found his vehicle that he had reported stolen to the Hercules Police Department.  The officer had the vehicle removed from the Stolen Vehicle System and the vehicle was released to the owner. 
 
Arson – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross);
At 8:20 pm officers were called to the store by the El Cerrito Fire Department for the report of an arson inside the store.  When officers arrived they were told that the suspect had started a small fire in the men’s bathroom and when the store employees went to investigate the fire the suspect left the store with stolen merchandise.  
 
November 14th
 
Vandalism – St. John’s Hall 6703 Portola Dr.
At approximately 8:21am an unknown suspect used an unknown object and shattered the side glass windows to the building.
