Preparations for this Sunday's Festival of Lights Parade
This Sunday, 11/27/22 at 6:00PM will be the 45th Annual Festival of Lights Parade in downtown Los Altos.
In order for this event to run smoothly, we will need everyone's full participation. First and foremost, residents, shoppers and employees downtown this Sunday, please be mindful of the No Parking signage that will be posted throughout the area including the parking plazas. We encourage you to read the No Parking signs since different areas will shut down at different times. For instance, the parade route primarily shuts down at 4:00PM but outlying areas used for float staging will shut down as early as 6:00AM. We recommend parking, look for the nearest No Parking sign, and then set an alarm to remind you to move your vehicle. As you know, one can easily lose track of the time when working, shopping or dining in downtown Los Altos.
Be advised, vehicles are subject to tow if parked in key areas of the parade route and staging areas after the posted no parking time. If you are a Festival of Lights volunteer, and possess a designated parking pass, you will be allowed to park inside the parade perimeter. However, you will have to wait until the roadways have been officially re-opened by the police department before you can drive and exit the perimeter. The same goes for anyone whose vehicle is inside the perimeter. You will have to wait until the roadways are re-opened before you can leave downtown. An alternative option would be to park outside the parade perimeter and allow more time to walk to your destination.
More details will be provided as we get closer to Sunday but until then, the Los Altos Police Department would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very safe and happy Thanksgiving!
