The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating an incident that occurred on November 27, 2022, just before 10:00 PM, in the area of 66th Avenue and Coliseum Way, where an individual brandished a firearm at passing OPD officers.
The individual then fled on foot onto I-880 and laid down on the center median between the southbound and northbound lanes of traffic. As a result, the California Highway Patrol (CHP), shut down traffic in both directions, from High Street to Hegenberger Road.
Initially, the individual was not compliant with officer commands, however, following an hour of negotiations, the individual surrendered and was safely taken into custody.
Falck medical personnel were on scene, however, the individual declined medical treatment.
