INCIDENT: Major Injury Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Buena Vista Drive and Avalon Avenue, Yucca Valley
SUSPECT(S):
VICTIM(S): Melanie Schneider, 43-years-old, Yucca Valley Resident Jacqueline Burdick, 49-years-old, Morongo Valley Resident
SUMMARY: On Thursday, November 24, 2022, at about 6:20 p.m., Morongo Basin Station deputies responded to the intersection of Buena Vista Drive and Avalon Avenue in Yucca Valley for an unknown injury traffic collision.
During the investigation, deputies discovered a white Honda Fit, driven by Melanie Schneider, collided with a grey Nissan Maxima, driven by Jacqueline Burdick. After the collision, Schnieder's vehicle rolled onto its passenger side before coming to rest in the eastbound lane of Buena Vista Drive. Burdick's vehicle ran over a stop sign before it came to rest in the driveway of a residence near the intersection.
As a result of the collision, Schneider was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center, in Palm Springs, and Burdick was transported to Hi-Desert Medical Center, in Joshua Tree, for treatment of their injuries. Schneider and Burdick were both properly restrained in their vehicles. Neither alcohol or drugs appeared to be a factor in the collision.
