Incident: Subject Arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon Causing Great Bodily Injury

Location: 1000 Block of Lakeville Street, Petaluma
Suspects: Adan Lopez-Aguilera (30-year-old Petaluma Transient)
Charges: 245(a)(1) PC- Assault w/ a Deadly Weapon
On 11/29/2022 at approximately 9:49 PM, the Petaluma Police Department Dispatch Center received a 911 call from a victim who reported he had been assaulted by a subject with a large rock. The victim stated he had been in the parking lot of a business in the 1000 block of Lakeville Street, when a male subject approached him and hit him in the head with a large rock after a brief verbal altercation.
The victim sustained visible injuries from the assault and was transported to a local hospital by members of the Petaluma Fire Department. The injuries were not life threatening.
The victim and nearby witnesses provided officers with a description of the suspect, who was last seen running southbound on Hopper Street towards the Courtyard Marriot Hotel. Petaluma officers set a perimeter in the area the suspect was last seen, with the assistance of Petaluma PD K9 Officer Neve and “Jax”, along with the Henry-One Helicopter with the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.
While Henry-One was checking several nearby areas, witnesses to the incident spotted the suspect at the Mary Isaak Shelter and notified PPD Dispatch. PPD Officer responded and detained Adan Lopez-Aguilera who was later identified as the suspect in this case by both the victim and nearby witnesses.
Lopez was arrested and later booked at the Sonoma County Jail for Assault with a Deadly Weapon causing Great Bodily Injury and a number of outstanding warrants.
The Petaluma Police Department would like to thank the community members who helped the officers apprehend the suspect and the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office for providing the use of Henry-One.
