IMPD Covert Robbery Detectives Arrest Man for a Series of Robberies
INDIANAPOLIS-On December 21st, 2021, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s (IMPD) Covert Robbery Unit began investigating a series of business robberies. Using many investigative techniques, detectives developed 26-year-old Jovonni Sanders as a suspect. Investigators with the assistance of the Indianapolis Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), took Sanders into custody on Friday, April 1, 2022, in the 8300 block of Michigan Road.
A search warrant was sought and granted for the suspect’s vehicle and residence. Investigators also located evidence during the search warrant of the residence. Sanders was booked into the Marion County Community Justice Center.
Detectives continued their investigation and were able to obtain probable cause that Sanders was the alleged suspect in additional robberies throughout the city. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) filed additional charges for Sanders. With the assistance of IMPD Northwest District officers Sanders was taken into custody without further incident.

4. December 26th, 2021, at 8:05pm, Speedway, 401 Kentucky Ave, IP210133204.
5. December 26th, 2021, at 8:56pm, Shell Gas, 7020 McFarland Blvd, IP210133216.
6. January 2nd, 2022, at 6:33pm, Village Pantry, 1415 W. 86th St, IP220000535.
7. January 17th, 2022, at 2:03pm, Dollar General, 6908 Madison Ave, IP220005231.
8. January 20th, 2022, at 7:30pm, Super Tacos, 7853 N Michigan Rd, IP220006389.
9. March 5th, 2022, at 7:00am, Circle K, 6402 W. 10th St, IP220020924.
10. March 8th, 2022, at 8:15pm, Dollar Tree, 3489 W. 86th St. IP22022243.
