On November 28, at approximately 11:23 p.m., Morgan Hill police officers responded to the Poke Bowl restaurant, located at 408 Tennant Station, to investigate the report of an in-progress burglary.  Upon arrival, a Morgan Hill Police officer observed a male suspect exiting the closed business.  The suspect immediately got onto a bicycle and fled from the officer.  The suspect rode his bike northbound across Tennant Avenue and onto Church Street, where he abandoned his bicycle and fled into a nearby backyard.

Gilroy Police officers, Santa Clara County deputies and San Jose Police Air 3 arrived on scene and initiated a search for the suspect.  After several minutes of searching, the suspect was located hiding in a backyard but immediately ran from officers.  The San Jose Police Department Air Unit successfully located the subject in an adjacent backyard.  Officers converged on the location and discovered the suspect had barricaded himself in a storage shed.  The suspect failed to comply with numerous commands for his surrender and remained barricaded in the shed.  Officers eventually forced entry into the shed and confronted the suspect, who again resisted arrest.  The Gilroy Police K-9 was used to apprehend the suspect.

The suspect was identified as Anthony Moses Garcia, 29, from San Jose.  Garcia received medical attention for a bite to his arm at an area hospital before he was transported to the Santa Clara County Main Jail where he was booked on charges of P.C 459 – Burglary, P.C. 148(a)(1) – Resisting arrest and H.S. 11364(a) – Possession of narcotic paraphernalia.

Morgan Hill Police Detectives have connected Garcia to other commercial burglaries and are currently looking into his involvement in several others which occurred in October and November.
