On Friday, December 2, 2022, at approximately 9:40 pm SVPD officers responded to the Avalon Apartment Complex at the 1500 block of Jefferson Way reference an intoxicated subject waving a shotgun around. Upon arrival, the officers contained the area and conducted a search. The suspect was subsequently located and detained without incident. The suspect was later identified as Sachith Devaas, a 36 year-old Simi Valley resident.
The investigation revealed that Mr. Devaas had a dispute with a neighbor, which prompted him to arm himself with a shotgun and walk the hallways.
Mr. Devaas was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm and booked into the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Pre-Trial Detention Facility.
