On December 3, 2022, at approximately 2:00 am the Simi Valley Police Department received a 9-1-1 call from a driver that stated they were being followed by a vehicle, unknown to them. The driver advised he was in the area of Wood Ranch Parkway and Lake Park Dr. and provided updates on his direction of travel. SVPD units responded towards the area and observed the vehicles run a red light. As the police units attempted to initiate a traffic stop of the suspect vehicle, the driver failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit lasted several minutes and traveled through the city streets for several miles until it terminated at a dead end street in the area of Anderson Dr. and Luray Cir.
The suspect driver subsequently surrendered without incident. The suspect was identified as David Miguel Villareal, a 21 year-old Simi Valley resident. Mr. Villareal was arrested for felony evading and DUI and booked into the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Pre-Trial Detention.
The Simi Valley Police Department would like to remind the community of the following tips if you suspect you are being followed:
- Don't Panic and keep driving
- Verify that you are being followed
- Do not drive home
- Call the police
- Drive to a public place, perferably the nearest police station
