Mail Theft Suspects Arrested After Foot Pursuit in Chino Hills

INCIDENT: Possession of Stolen Mail, Resisting Arrest and Conspiracy
LOCATION: Fairfield Ranch Road and Nomad Lane, Chino Hills
SUSPECT(S): Christopher Ford, 30-year-old Male Resident of Ontario and Kamar McClendon, 43-year-old Male Resident of Pomona
VICTIM(S): Chino Hills, Upland, and Pomona Residents
SUMMARY: On Monday, December 5, 2022, at approximately 10:11 p.m., deputies from Chino Hills Station responded to a report of suspects stealing mail from the area of Fairfield Ranch Road and Nomad Lane.
Deputies located the vehicle in the area and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, later identified as Kamar McClendon, and the passenger, identified as Christopher Ford, fled on foot during the traffic stop. McClendon and Ford were captured and arrested for outstanding warrants and possessing stolen mail and packages.
Deputies determined the stolen mail and packages recovered in the suspect's vehicle belonged to Chino Hills, Upland, and Pomona residents. McClendon and Ford were booked at the West Valley Detention Center for PC 530.5(c )(3) - Possession of Stolen Mail, PC 148(A)(1)- Resisting Arrest, and PC 182(A)(1) - Conspiracy to Commit a Crime.
