NPD Investigates Vehicle Vs. Pedestrian Collision

On Monday, December 5th, 2022 at 6:04 PM, Novato Police officers responded to a report of a vehicle that struck a pedestrian on De Long Ave and Redwood Blvd. The first officer that arrived at the scene, reported that two pedestrians had been struck by a motorist.

Personnel from the Novato Fire Protection District responded to the scene and both victims were transported to local hospitals to be treated for moderate to major injuries. The driver was cooperative with the investigation and transported to a local hospital as well.

The initial investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling Westbound on De Long Ave, before making a Northbound turn onto Redwood Blvd and losing control. Neither impairment, nor speed appear to be a factor in this collision. The roadway was closed for approximately one hour while the collision scene was processed.

We would like to thank our community members who stopped at the collision scene to render assistance and provide information to our investigating officers. We would also like to thank our partners at the Novato Fire Protection District for their assistance with this investigation. The cause of the collision appears to be the result of a medical emergency.

This is a reminder to our community to stay alert when out walking as a pedestrian and as a driver, especially during inclement weather.

Those with questions are asked to contact our Traffic Sergeant Reza Pourfarhani at 415-897-4361 or [email protected].
