Police Seek the Public’s Help Identifying Robbery Suspect

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help in identifying the below-pictured male suspect in connection with a robbery that occurred today, December 6, 2022.

At approximately 6:30 a.m., Police responded to a call of a robbery in the 600 block of Springfield Avenue. The suspect assaulted a female victim by repeatedly striking her in the face and upper body until she fell to the ground. The suspect then attempted to take her personal items, unsuccessfully, before fleeing northbound towards 19th Avenue.

The suspect is described as approximately 5'9" tall, 180 pounds, with a full beard, short hair cut, and a red crown in the middle of his forehead. He was wearing a black or dark green-colored jacket, hooded sweatshirt with a green logo on the front, dark blue jeans, and black Nike sneakers.

Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the identity of this suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
