Pomona Police Department Special Investigations Unit shuts down illegal casino.

NARRATIVE:
The Pomona Police Department began receiving anonymous complaints about an illegal casino in the area of Indian Hill and San Bernardino. After several weeks of investigation, members of the SIU identified the location. SIU officers authored a search warrant for the location. On 12/07/2022, the SIU with the assistance of the Detective Bureau and Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) served the search warrant . SIU Officers located a large-scale illegal gambling casino inside of the location. Two arrests were made and evidence was seized including electronics and illegally obtained proceeds.
The building was red tagged and deemed uninhabitable.
The Pomona Police Department has seen an increase in these illegal casinos opening in vacant buildings within the city limits. These illegal gambling casinos are the source of multiple calls for service including batteries, robberies, narcotics activity and shootings.
The Special Investigations Unit remains dedicated to the concerns of the community and will continue our efforts to improve the quality of life in our city.
