Altercation on state highway leads to both parties being arrested
On December 7th at approx. 3:11 PM, a Readington officer witnessed an altercation between a motorist and a pedestrian near the intersection of US Hwy 22 and County Rt 523 (Main St). An investigation revealed that David Gilliam, 58, of Readington Twp confronted Keith Anderson, 56, also of Readington Twp, who was standing in the center median of US Hwy 22. After a brief verbal altercation, Mr. Gilliam pulled his vehicle into the center median, exited his vehicle and the two continued to argue. During this argument, Mr. Anderson presented a knife and threatened Mr. Gilliam. It was at this time that Sgt. Mackiewicz arrived and diffused the situation. Interviews were conducted at HQ and the following criminal complaints were issued. Anderson and Gilliam were charged with Disorderly Conduct. Mr. Anderson was also charged with Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes. Both parties were released pending a mandatory court appearance.
