HASKELL COUNTY DEPUTY INVOLVED IN OFFICER-INVOLVED-SHOOTING

*** The following update is based on an active and ongoing investigation. The OSBI's initial understanding of the facts and circumstances may evolve over the course of the investigation as witnesses are interviewed and evidence is collected and analyzed.
Upon completion of the OSBI investigation, agents will submit a report summarizing their investigation to the District Attorney’s Office. The District Attorney will determine whether or not to file charges.
HASKELL COUNTY, Okla. (December 8, 2022) – The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is investigating an officer-involved-shooting involving a deputy from the Haskell County Sheriff’s Office. Based on the initial investigation, this is what is known at this time:
- On December 7, 2022 at approximately 1 p.m., a Haskell County deputy responded to a residence on East Highway 9 in Stigler after a 9-1-1 call was made from the residence.
- The caller reported that her husband was threatening to kill her and was loading a gun at that moment.
- When the deputy arrived at the home, he was met by the female caller.
- The deputy noticed the husband, Charlie Brown (9/4/1960), down the hall with a long gun pointed at the direction of the female and the deputy.
- The deputy moved the female out of the way and fired his service weapon, hitting Brown twice.
- Brown was transported to the hospital in Arkansas where he was treated and released.
- After his release, Brown was arrested and booked into the Haskell County Jail.
- Brown is currently facing one charge of Feloniously Pointing a Firearm and one charge Assault on an Officer.
