Advisory

UPDATE: Astoria Bridge remains CLOSED. Emergency access on Forest Service route has been opened.

UPDATE 12/08/2022 3:00 p.m. - The Astoria Bridge in the Snake River Canyon that provides access to the Snake River Sporting Club remains CLOSED due to structural damage. Timelines for repair and reopening of this private bridge are unknown until Snake River Sporting Club engineers have completed a full damage assessment.

Emergency access has been opened via the Bridger-Teton National Forest Service temporary emergency access to Teton County’s Hoback Junction South Road. Alternating one-way traffic will be allowed from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM this evening, and between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM through Sunday, December 11. Emergency access is limited to local traffic only, and no heavy equipment or vehicles will be allowed at this time. Personal vehicles must have high clearance, four or all wheel drive, and good winter tires to travel this route.

Emergency services have plans in place to reach this area for life safety issues, but asks all workers and residents to be extra vigilant with fire and ignition sources as emergency response will be significantly delayed.

Information about the status of operations at affected businesses can be found by contacting those businesses. Residents of this area should reach out to Snake River Sporting Club officials for the latest information.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE 12/08/2022 9:22 a.m. - Per Teton County Sheriff's Office, the Astoria Bridge (red steel bridge) in the Snake River Canyon that accesses the Snake River Sporting Club and Astoria Park is CLOSED until further notice due to structural damage.
Both Teton County and the Bridger-Teton National Forest are actively working on a solution to open an alternate egress route, but at this time anyone on the south (Sporting Club) side of the bridge is asked to remain where they are until we update this Nixle message with alternate route information. Teton County and Bridger-Teton National Forest thank you for your patience.
