Two men are in custody and are facing charges associated with the November 15^th, 2022 murder of 19-year-old Breiner Daniel Puerta Gonzalez that occurred at Northridge Plaza on Hilton Head Island.

20-year-old Nayquan Gadson was taken into custody today, December 9, 2022, in Port Wentworth, Georgia with the assistance of the Port Wentworth Police Department. He faces charges of murder, armed robbery, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.  He is pending an extradition hearing in Georgia before being brought to Beaufort County. 

Christopher Alexander Escobedo, 19, is in custody at the Beaufort County Detention Center and is facing charges of accessory after the fact of murder.

To recap, Sheriff’s deputies were called to Northridge Plaza, 435 William Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head Island for a man-down call on November 15, 2022, at approximately 1:28 a.m.  When they arrived, they found the victim, Breiner Daniel Puerta Gonzalez, deceased in the parking lot as a result of a gunshot wound. 

Investigators collected evidence from the scene and canvassed nearby businesses for video surveillance.   The victim and suspects were observed on nearby surveillance footage minutes before the shooting occurred.   The victim, who was on a video chat app with a friend at the onset of the confrontation between him and the suspects, was robbed of personal property during the event.
