OPD Joins ‘Melrose Holiday Jingles Parade’
The Melrose Neighborhood Council, led by Chair Veronica Garcia, Vice Chair and Fremont High School President Nidya Baez, and Community Lead Nichole Penland, hosted the Melrose Holiday Jingles Parade on December 6, 2022.
Residents living in the Melrose neighborhood were invited to take part and say hello to their Neighborhood Council team members, the Oakland Police Department (OPD), the Oakland Fire Department (OFD), and of course, Santa!
The parade traveled through the Melrose neighborhood in a caravan consisting of two Oakland Fire trucks and an Oakland Police patrol vehicle. With lights flashing and sirens roaring, OPD, OFD, and Santa gave out gifts and treats and took photos with children and families throughout the neighborhood.
OPD continues to make efforts to give back to the community, especially during this holiday season.
Please join us, on December 22, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. OPD will be hosting a special holiday event for Oakland families at the Police Administration Building located at 455 7th Street.
