LEMA EOC is continuing to monitor the storm system as it moves east towards Ms. This system has prodused tornados to the west of us. The system is expected to move into Ms later tonight and stall before the I55 corridor. When the storm looses its push, it makes it hard to know a time that it will come into our area. We are expecting this storm system to move into Lauderdale County between 7am-9am in the morning and last until the early evening hours around 6pm. We could see some high winds with gusts up to 65mph, dime size hail up to golfball size, and possible tornados. Lauderdale County has been blessed the last couple of storms, and this one is not one to let our guard down! Continue to be prepared for the worse! Stay weather wise throughout tomorrow. Have your plan in place and be ready to activate that plan. We are not ruling out anything moving through earlier than projected, and we will be monitoring throughout the night. Secure all loose items around your home, include your outside pets in your plans, and charge your phones. We are not ruling out the possibility of power outages due to this storm.
As this storm system moves through, we could see 2-3 inches of rain. This could lead to flash flooding, especially in low lying areas.
Make sure everyone knows to report ALL damages in Lauderdale County (this includes the City of Meridian) to LEMA EOC or 911.
