Hoboken, Hudson Regional Health Commission to offer booster clinic Thursday for all residents, ages 6 months and up

Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla and the Hoboken Health Department today announced that the City and the Hudson Regional Health Commission will provide the updated bivalent booster to newly eligible children, 6 months old and older, at its clinic on Thursday, Dec. 15.

Through a partnership with the Hudson Regional Health Commission, the City will have a clinic at 605 Jackson St. from 3 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. tomorrow to provide residents 6 months old and older who received their primary vaccine dose at least two months ago with the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 bivalent vaccines, or “updated boosters.” The clinic will also offer COVID-19 vaccines,  updated boosters to those previously eligible, and a limited supply of seasonal flu vaccines to those 18 years old and older.

Appointments can be made online and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Residents can book an appointment at www.hudsoncovidvax.org/.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the  U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) expanded eligibility for the updated booster this month.

Children ages 6 months through 5 years who previously completed a Moderna primary series are eligible to receive a Moderna bivalent booster 2 months after their final primary series dose.

Children ages 6 months through 4 years who are currently completing a Pfizer primary series will receive a Pfizer bivalent vaccine as their third primary dose.

“As we approach the December holiday season, it’s the ideal time to get the updated booster if you haven’t done so already," said Mayor Bhalla.  "Research and data continue to show that the best way to stay safe as we gather with friends and family is to get the updated booster and the flu shot. I also encourage parents to consider the booster shot for their children as well, including the newly eligible age group of six months to five years of age. Thank you to the Hudson Regional Health Commission, as well as County Executive Tom DeGise and Commissioner Anthony Romano, for helping provide these critical resources to our residents, free of charge.”
