Public Announcement
Supplemental Support for Peak Load Hours
It is being predicted and is highly probable that Wrangell will be seeing single digit temperatures by this Sunday.
Colder Temperatures in SE Alaska means that electrical demands will be higher.
Due to the expected lower temperatures SEAPA (our wholesale provider) is asking Ketchikan, Petersburg and Wrangell to stand ready to supplement SEAPA’s ability to supply electrical power to all 3 communities during peak demand periods. This means that occasionally WML&P will be called upon to run our diesel generators to meet high demand peaks.
Our community may see WML&P exercise our generators during the peak demand periods (from 7:00 am to 9:00 am, and from to 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm). We will continue to make information to the Public as our role changes throughout this expected cold period.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us (Wrangell Municipal Light and Power 1-907-874-3602) should you have any questions concerning this anticipated cold period.
We apologize to our customers for any inconvenience this might cause. If you have any questions, please contact our Wrangell Light and Power office at 907-874-3602 or send us an email to [email protected]
Thank you!
