SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at 1:25 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 10800 block of Cochiti Road for a report of a home invasion robbery. The caller reported a man, identified as Thomas Holtz, broke into the home, pointed a gun at him and threatened to kill him. The victim ran to a neighbor’s home where he called police. Holtz was seen driving up and down the street in a black Kia Soul.
Responding deputies observed the suspect vehicle parked in an open dirt lot near the incident location. Deputies contacted the driver and detained him. During a search of the vehicle, deputies located two loaded firearms, a backpack containing marijuana, and an additional firearm with the serial number scratched off, in the trunk.
Through further investigation, deputies determined the victim’s estranged girlfriend is known to Holtz and Holtz believed the victim was abusing the girlfriend.
Holtz was arrested and booked in at the High Desert Detention Center where he remains on $125,000 bail.
