Deputies Arrest Highland Man In Connection to Animal Cruelty Case that Lead to the Death of a Dog

INCIDENT: PC 597; Cruelty to an Animal, PC 422(a); Criminal Threats
LOCATION: 7300 block of Valaria Drive, Highland
SUSPECT(S): Damian Fields, 36-years-old, Resident of Highland
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Sunday, October 23, 2022, deputies from the Highland Station were dispatched to the 7300 block of Valaria Drive for a report of animal abuse. Deputies responded to the location and found a deceased dog in a dumpster. Through investigation, deputies discovered video evidence of the suspect, Damian Fields, committing abuse which lead to the dog’s death. An arrest warrant was authorized for Fields for animal cruelty and criminal threats.
On Saturday, December 17, 2022, deputies located Fields leaving his residence. Fields was arrested for PC 597(a); Cruelty to an Animal, and PC 422(a) Criminal Threats. Fields was transported and booked at Central Detention Center with a bail set at $100,000.00.
