The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from December 9th to December 12th, 2022.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
 
 
December 9th
 
Residential Burglary – 2400 block of Tulare Ave.
An unknown suspect entered the residence via an unlocked sliding door and stole a portable A/C unit.  The owner is in the process of renting the residence.  The incident occurred from October 12th – December 4th.
 
Organized Retail Theft – Ross 11545 San Pablo Ave.
At approximately 4:54pm three suspects entered Ross and stole over $1000.00 worth of miscellaneous items.  The suspects were described as two black male adults wearing black beanies and one black female adult, heavy set, wearing a red jacket.  The suspects fled in a black Toyota sedan southbound on San Pablo Ave. 
 
Auto Burglary- Parking Lot of 7000 El Cerrito Plaza
At 8:49 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect smashed out the front passenger’s side window of the victim’s vehicle and removed property.
 
December 10th
 
Stolen vehicle
At 2:45 PM, a victim reported the theft of a 2001 black BMW 325i from the area of Central Avenue at Kearney.
 
Shoplift-Ross, 2000 El Cerrito Plaza
At 9:47 PM, an officer was flagged down by a Ross employee and advised a male just walked out the store with unpaid merchandise. The male was located walking in the parking lot of the El Cerrito Plaza BART station and detained. The 53-year-old male was positively identified by the employee and placed under Citizen’s Arrest. The male was released on a citation in the field and the $408 worth of merchandise was returned to the business.
 
December 11th
 
Vandalism – Parking lot of 3090 EC Plaza.
An unknown suspect grabbed a chair from Starbucks and struck two parked vehicles with it.  The suspect was described as a black male adult, in his 30’s, tall, thin build, wearing a black/red flannel shirt and black pants.  
 
Grand Theft – Ross 11545 San Pablo Ave. 
Two unknown suspects entered Ross, selected miscellaneous merchandise, and left without paying.  The first suspect was described as a black female adult, 40’s, wearing a black jacket and grey sweatpants.  The second suspect was described as a black female adult, in her 40’s, wearing a black puff coat and white sweatpants.  They fled in a 2000’s white Toyota Camry.
 
Organized Retail Theft- CVS, 670 El Cerrito Plaza
At 9:01 PM, officers were dispatched to CVS for 10 males “taking everything”. Officers detained two juvenile males matching the description at the El Cerrito Plaza BART station. The juveniles were positively identified during an infield show-up and placed under Citizen’s Arrest. The juveniles were transported to the ECPD for booking. After booking, the juveniles were released to their guardians. $1900 worth of merchandise was returned to the business.
 
Drunk in Public- Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave.
At 10:32 PM, officers were dispatched to a welfare check of a male. Officers contacted the 52-year-old male who refused to leave after Safeway employees asked him several times. The subject became belligerent and exposed himself and attempted to urinate. The male appeared intoxicated and was placed under arrest. He was transported directly to county jail.
 
Warrant Arrest-11700 Block of San Pablo Ave.
At 11:42 PM, officers were dispatched to the location for a disturbance between wife and husband. During a records check, the wife was found to have an active citable traffic warrant ($7500) out of Oakland. The wife was cited in the field and released on a citation. 
 
December 12th
 
Identity Theft – 1600 Navellier St.
An unknown suspect opened an AT&T U-verse account in the victim’s name. 
 
Battery – IFO 10462 San Pablo Ave.
At approximately 9:54am, officer’s responded to a fight between two males.  The suspect kicked the victim and fled into the McBears bar.  The victim did not sustain any injuries, declined medical attention and did not want prosecution.  The suspect fled McBears prior to police arrival, but was contacted later via telephone.
