The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from December 16th to December 18th, 2022.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
 
December 16th
 
Commercial Burglary – Dentistry for the Family 11100 San Pablo Ave.
 An unknown suspect shattered the front glass door to the building to gain entry.  Once inside, the suspect stole a credit card reader.  The burglary occurred on Thursday December 15th at 5:30pm to Friday December 16th at 7:40am.
 
Auto Burglaries – 11720 San Pablo Ave.  
An unknown suspect shattered the windows to two parked vehicles and stole the victim’s backpacks. The suspect was described as a black male adult, in his 20’s, wearing a green hooded sweatshirt, black pants and white shoes. The suspect fled in a white BMW SUV northbound on San Pablo Ave., which was driving by a second suspect.  The burglary occurred today from 11:41am to 11:47am. 
 
Battery on Person and Warrant Arrest – 10203 San Pablo Ave.
At approximately 12:58pm a 34-year-old male from Sacramento pushed his aunt to the ground, during a verbal argument.  The male was placed under Citizen’s Arrest.  The male had a Probation Violation warrant for his arrest from Solano County.  The male was given a citation for the battery and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility on his warrant.
 
Hate Crime – San Pablo Ave at Carlson Blvd.
At approximately 3:04pm, while the victim was waiting at the bus stop, the suspect began to call the victim homosexual slurs, threatened to harm the victim and began to walk towards him.  A citizen stepped in between them and the suspect walked towards the Plaza.  The suspect was described as a mixed race male 30’s, 6’3”, 220lbs., with long brown hair in a messy ponytail, wearing a multi-colored flannel shirt over a grey hoodie, blue jeans and dark colored shoes with white soles.  The suspect was last seen boarding an AC transit bus, northbound on San Pablo Ave.  
 
Stolen Vehicle – 6600 block of Manila Avenue;
At 10:01 pm an officer was sent to the report that the victim’s vehicle was stolen from in front of the home earlier in the day. 
 
 
December 17th
 
Theft from Vehicle – 1200 block of Liberty St.
An unknown suspect opened the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole the victim’s purse containing miscellaneous items.  The theft occurred on Friday Dec. 16th from 1am to 7am.
 
Tampering with a Vehicle – Liberty St at Schmidt Ln.
An unknown suspect shattered the right rear window to the victim’s vehicle, made entry.  The suspect then damaged the steering column and ignition.   The incident occurred from Thursday Dec. 15th at 6pm to Saturday Dec 17th at 1100am.  
 
Trespass – 11785 San Pablo Avenue (Launderland);
At 7:50 pm an officer accepted the citizen’s arrest for a subject that had been asked repeatedly by the owner to leave but the subject refused to leave.  The subject was issued a citation at the scene and left the business. 
 
December 18th
 
Vandalism, Public Intoxication, Probation violation – 1700 block of Liberty Street;
At 3:35 am officers were sent to the report that there was a person in front of the home yelling and hitting a vehicle.  When officers spoke to the victim she said the person broke a mirror on the vehicle.  An officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of the subject and they were booked at ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 
 
Battery, Public Intoxication – 1700 block of Liberty Street;
At 3:45 am while investigating the above incident a subject became angry with one of their family members and shoved them to the ground in front of an officer.  The subject was placed under arrest, booked at ECPD, and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.    
 
Petty Theft – 6400 block of Knott Avenue;
At 7:16 pm an officer was sent to the report that someone stole the two license plates from the victim’s vehicle sometime during the day.
 
December 19th
 
Tampering with a vehicle – 900 block of Liberty Street;
At 1:53 am an officer was sent to the report that someone had attempted to steal the victim’s vehicle sometime in the previous several hours.
