Seasons Greeting Message from Gloucester Township Police Chief David Harkins

Seasons Greeting Message from Gloucester Township Police Chief David Harkins:

"As we reflect on the past year, we were glad to get back to normal. Making our community safer has been the top priority. We do this through building trust in the community while taking on criminal activity with every resource we have. We again are hosting our Citizens Police Academy this winter and our Junior Police Academy will be in full swing this summer.

We again held my favorite holiday event. The “Heroes and Helpers” event where we partner with our schools, New Jersey FOP Lodge 206, the Target Store at 487 Berlin-Cross Keys Road, and Chic-Fil-A in Gloucester Township to give some deserving children a great experience as they go “shop with a cop”. This was our 10th year, and I am very proud that over 50 officers and staff from the Gloucester Township Police Department volunteered their time to make this such a great Christmas memory for so many of our children. I also want to thank the community for the overwhelming support and generosity provided to us for our “Stuff a Truck” event for the Mayor’s Annual Toy Drive. We are humbled by the support for this great cause that will bring joy to many children in Gloucester Township.

We are coming to the end of our accreditation process through the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police. This process has us re-examining all of policies, procedures, and practices to ensure we are employing the very best practices in policing the community of Gloucester Township. This process will reduce our risk, and make us an even better police department. This has been a large and worthy undertaking which we look forward to completing.

The men and women of the Gloucester Township Police Department are the finest law enforcement professionals around. We will continue to use cutting edge technology and techniques to make our community safe.

We are always in awe and thankful for all of those residents who deliver kind words, cards, cookies, and food to the hard working men and women of the Gloucester Township Police Department during this holiday season. This kindness brings the joy of the holidays to our officers and dispatchers.

On behalf of the men and women of the Gloucester Township Police Department, we want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Happy Hanukkah, and a Happy New Year! Rest assured that these great servants will be on duty and will answer the call throughout the Holidays by serving this great Gloucester Township community.

Thank you for your support!

David J. Harkins
Chief of Police"
