Hiring Standards 
As your Chief of Police, I am committed to keeping you, the San Ramon Community, informed on who we are, what we do, and how we operate as a professional law enforcement organization.
With that in mind, knowing you are being protected and served by the best officers in our profession is critical to ensure we maintain your continued trust in what we do daily.
On November 8, 2022, the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (CA POST) audited the San Ramon Police Department’s hiring files for all of the officers hired by the City of San Ramon since January 1, 2016. Earlier today, I received official notification the San Ramon Police Department is in 100% compliance with the standards required by California regulations.
Among the items reviewed during this audit were the following:
- California Department of Justice (DOJ) clearance
- California DOJ firearms clearance
- Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) fingerprint clearance
- Education verification
- Medical suitability clearance
- Psychological suitability clearance
Since the San Ramon Police Department began in 2007, the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training has routinely audited our background investigations and hiring files. Every audit conducted has resulted in a report of 100% compliance.
