Wind Chill Warning and Winter Storm Watch
The NWS has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Cooper County starting Thursday, December 22nd at 12am through Friday, December 23rd at 6pm.
The NWS has issued a Wind Chill Warning from 12pm on Thursday, December 22 through 12pm Saturday, December 24.
The combination of high winds from the Northwest, rapidly dropping temperatures, and expected snow will make for very treacherous travel conditions. Expected night time low temperatures of -7f and day time highs of 4f with sustained winds of upto 30mph with gust as high of 40mph are possible. Wind Chills for Cooper County could reach -35f. This combined with 2-4 inches of blowing snow will make for low visibility.
Please limit travel during this time. These conditions are very dangerous. If you have to travel make sure you have blankets and dress warm. Take drinking water and food in the event you become stranded. Check on your neighbors and the elderly. Stay inside as much as possible. Trips to the mail box may be hazardous. If you have to be outside dress in layers. Exposed skin may frostbite quickly.
