Narrative:
An Oxnard area man was arrested for numerous firearms related charges while trespassing on a commercial agricultural property.

The unincorporated areas of Oxnard have recently seen an increase in crimes related to commercial agricultural businesses ranging from burglary, vehicle thefts, vehicle tampering, vandalism, petty thefts, narcotics violations, and trespassing. To assist the public in combatting these crimes, deputies assigned to the Headquarters Station have increased their patrols in and around these types of properties.

On 12/21/22, a deputy assigned to the Headquarters Station was patrolling a commercial agricultural property located in the area of the 5700 block of W. Gonzales Road and observed a male and female subject trespassing behind the fence line of the property. The deputy contacted both subjects, who were identified during the contact as Stephen Kuklenski and Kristi Cull, both transients in the Oxnard area. Kuklenski and Cull were determined to have active warrants for their arrest. During their arrests for the outstanding arrest warrants, it was determined that Kuklenski was in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine, a short barreled assault rifle and a loaded high capacity magazine. The deputy determined Kuklenksi was also under the influence of a controlled substance. Kuklenski is a prohibited person from possessing firearms and ammunition due to prior unrelated criminal conviction(s).

Based on evidence obtained during the investigation, probable cause was developed to believe Kuklenski was in violation of Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, Possession of Ammunition by a Prohibited Person, Possession of a Short Barreled Rifle, Possession of an Assault Weapon, Unlawful Transfer of a Firearm, Carry a Concealed Firearm Upon a Person,  Possession of a Firearm in Violation of Probation, False Information to a Peace Officer, Possession of a Controlled Substance While Armed, and Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance While in Possession of a Loaded Firearm. Kuklenski was booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility and held on $500,000.00 bail.
