Storm update: black ice and dangerous driving conditions possible this afternoon
Take caution if driving
Residents and visitors are encouraged to take caution and remain off roads if possible this late afternoon into the evening. Temperatures will drop to below freezing and black ice will likely cause dangerous driving conditions.
DPW salting roads and power washing
The Hoboken Department of Environmental Services has begun power washing low lying areas that may have experienced overnight flooding. Crews will also prioritize pre-treating roads with salt in anticipation of temperatures dropping and freezing conditions.
NJ Transit bus delays and PATH entrances
NJ TRANSIT train service in and out Hoboken Terminal is subject to up to 30-minute delays, as of 8:45 am.
The entrance to the PATH via Lackawanna Plaza is currently closed due to flooding. Please use the Hudson Street entrance or the entrance between the bus terminal and NJ Transit tracks to enter and exit the station.
Residents utilizing public transportation should monitor the social media feeds of the transit agencies for the latest updates.
NJ Transit trains
According to NJ Transit, trains at Hoboken Terminal may have engines idling and running overnight on tracks to prevent the engines from freezing and disrupting service.

Heavy winds predicted
Strong winds of 25-35 miles per hour are predicted during periods of the storm, with gusts of 50-55 miles per hour possible at times.
The Office of Emergency Management encourages residents to secure loose objects outside or bring them inside, especially off balconies. Outdoor tents should be taken down depending on wind load.
Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines, resulting in power outages.
Street cleaning suspended Friday
Street cleaning will be suspended on Friday, December 23 (as well as Monday, December 26). All waste collection, including recycling, will occur as regularly scheduled.
