Flash Freeze Expected - Emergency Shelter for Residents Without Power
The Town of St. Johnsbury emergency management team is continuing to monitor the ongoing weather situation in our area. We are aware of several homes without power in St. Johnsbury and The National Weather Service has advised us that a flash freeze is going to occur this evening. As a result of the forecasted cold temperatures and potential for delays in the restoration of electricity, we are encouraging residents who may be without power to seek shelter with family or friends. For those who do not have any alternative, please call the St. Johnsbury Emergency Dispatch Center at (802) 748-8925. and further instructions will be provided.
Important Message from Vermont Emergency Management: Stay off the roads after 4:00 p.m. today, flash freezing conditions and snow will make travel dangerous. If you are using alternative heat sources, please do so with caution and practice fire safety. If using a generator, use in a well-ventilated area and be cautious of Carbon Monoxide poisoning.
Instructions:
If you are a St. Johnsbury resident without power and have no alternate housing arrangements, please call for emergency shelter instructions.
Avoid travel on the roads after 4:00pm.
