Man Arrested After Shooting at Fleeing Dog

INCIDENT: PC 597 (a) - Cruelty to Animals
LOCATION: 55000 Block of Navajo Trail, Yucca Valley
SUSPECT(S): Brian Luis Chandler, 42-year-old Male Resident of Yucca Valley
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Friday, December 23, 2022, at about 1:23 p.m., a concerned citizen called 9-1-1 to report a male subject driving and attempting to shoot at a fleeing dog. Deputies responded and contacted a male driver, later identified as Brian Luis Chandler.
During the investigation, deputies located a long pellet rifle belonging to Chandler. The dog was located a short time later and appeared to be unharmed. Morongo Basin Animal Control was notified of the incident.
Deputies arrested Chandler for PC 597 (a) - Cruelty to Animals and booked him in at the Morongo Basin Jail.
