The next phase of operations will focus on leak identification and repair.
Atypical pressures at the perimeter of the distribution system indicate significant water loss. Supply pressures from Tulsa and pressures generated through our primary booster pump are more than sufficient to maintain normal operations – as was the case through most of this past weekend. (For instance, the Bixhoma system has not required any assistance from the interim booster pump station since October.)
While the interim booster station was removed before the onset of freezing temperatures to avoid equipment damage, below ground piping systems remain vulnerable to ground movement related to winter moisture and freeze/thaw cycles – especially when the temperature swings are dramatic. Line segments dating to the 1960’s (including the main servicing the Leonard/Bixhoma area) are particularly vulnerable due to age and pipe materials.
