Fairfield Police have arrested a Vallejo man in connection with a fatal two vehicle collision that occurred on Christmas Eve.

On December 24 at around 10:15 pm, police officers responded to East Tabor Avenue and Railroad Avenue regarding a traffic collision with major injuries. The occupants of one vehicle were transported to a local hospital and, unfortunately, one person succumbed to their injuries. The victims’ identities will not be released at this time, out of consideration for the families.

Following an investigation, the driver of the second vehicle, Dominic Lyons of Vallejo, CA, was determined to be under the influence. He was arrested and booked into Solano County Jail on related charges.

A rumor has circulated on social media, based upon photos released from the accident scene, that a shooting was involved in this incident. That rumor is FALSE. While speculation is bound to happen following any tragic incident, the dissemination of misinformation like this not only frustrates the investigation but also compounds the trauma experienced by grieving friends and family.

We extend our deepest condolences to those who have lost a loved one during this holiday season and implore everyone to please drive sober, especially as New Year’s Eve approaches. It’s easier to call a ride when you’ve had too much, than to suffer the wide-reaching repercussions of a bad decision.
