The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from December 23RD to December 26TH, 2022.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
 
December 23rd

Theft of Mail – 700 block of Pomona Ave.
On December 20th, at approximately 11pm, the suspect stole mail out of the victims front porch mailbox.  The suspect appeared to be a white or Hispanic male adult, 20-30 years old, wearing a light colored hooded sweatshirt. The victim captured the incident via his doorbell camera. 

Assault with a deadly weapon – San Pablo Avenue near Central Avenue;
At 11:16 pm while driving in the area a vehicle attempted to run another vehicle off the road several times.  At one point the vehicle pulled in front of the victim vehicle and stopped.  The occupant got out of the vehicle and pointed a firearm at the occupants of the other vehicle.  The victim vehicle drove away however the suspect began to follow them again attempting to ram their vehicle.  The driver of the victim vehicle swerved to avoid the suspect and hit the center median disabling the vehicle.  When they stopped the suspect again got out of their vehicle and pointed the firearm at the occupants of the victim vehicle.  Another vehicle in the area who had several witnesses inside of it said the suspect told them to get out of their vehicle.  When they did not the suspect attempted to ram their vehicle and then sped away.  

December 24th

Stolen Vehicle – 1800 block of Arlington Blvd;
At 12:46 am the victim called the police to report that they had just heard their vehicle drive away from their house.
 
Possession of Stolen Property and Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) Violation – 1700 block of Elm St.
At approximately 1:24pm, officers responded to a call of a trespasser in an apartment complex possibly stealing mail.  Officer’s located the suspect, a 40 year old male from Richmond in the 1700 block of Manor Circle.  The male was in possession of several stolen packages belonging to residents in the area. The male was on active Post Release Community Supervision out of San Mateo County for vehicle theft.   The male was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Petty Theft – 900 block of Leneve Place;
At 8:10 pm the victim called the police to report that a package had been stolen off of their front porch the day before.
 
December 25th

DUI collision – San Pablo Avenue at Moeser Lane;
At 5:27 am officers were sent to the report of a vehicle collision involving a bus where the bus driver believed the other driver was intoxicated.  When the officers arrived they were told that the suspect had driven away from the scene. 
 
DUI collision – Kearney Street at Potrero Avenue;
At 5:35 am officers received a call about another vehicle collision on Kearney Street near Potrero Avenue.  When the officers arrived they found an overturned vehicle with the driver still inside.  Officers got the driver out of the vehicle and he was found to be extremely intoxicated.  The bus driver from the above collision was brought by an officer the second collision and the vehicle and driver were positively identified as the same who fled the scene of the above crash.  The driver was transported to the hospital by ambulance and when they were released they were arrested, booked at ECPD, and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
