Fairfield Man Arrested After Fatally Striking Bicyclist on Cordelia Road in DUI Hit-and-Run; Police Seek Witnesses

46-year-old Sean Miron of Fairfield has been arrested after fatally striking a male bicyclist on Cordelia Road yesterday evening. The victim’s identity is not being released, pending family notification.

The call regarding the hit-and-run accident came in to Dispatch at around 5:22 pm and Fairfield Police officers quickly responded to the scene.

Upon arriving, they learned that Miron, who had been traveling eastbound in a 2022 Silver Chevrolet Silverado, fled after striking the cyclist and drove into Suisun City. There, Miron struck a vehicle in a second collision and once again fled the scene.

Suisun officers detained both Miron and his passenger, 22-year-old David Vernonrojo of Suisun, without incident.

A subsequent investigation by Fairfield Police Department resulted in Miron being placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence (DUI). A firearm found in the vehicle had a threaded barrel, in violation of law.

Miron, who has three prior DUI convictions and is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing a firearm, was booked into Solano County Jail for second degree murder, weapons charges, multiple DUI charges and for hit-and-run resulting in death or injury. The passenger, David Vernonrojo, was also booked into County Jail on weapons-related charges.

We are currently seeking additional witnesses to this incident. If you have any information pertinent to this case, were a witness to the collision or observed the suspects driving in their Silver Chevrolet Silverado prior to the collision, please contact the Traffic Unit at (707) 428-7300. The vehicle had major damage to the hood following the initial collision. Pictured is a stock photo of the vehicle type.

Cordelia Road between Beck Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue was closed for an extended period, but has since reopened.

Over the course of the last few days, we have repeatedly emphasized the importance of driving sober, but we cannot stress it enough – no matter how lucky or how good of a driver you think you are, no matter what reason you fabricate, there is never an excuse for driving while intoxicated. A few seconds into one bad decision can cause the destruction of several lives, forever. The weight of that just isn’t worth it. Hand over your keys, sleep it off, call a ride – but do not get behind the wheel.
