5th Offense OWI Arrest
On December 29, 2022 at 11:08 a.m. Janesville Police Department officers received information of a possible intoxicated driver in the parking lot of a gas station in the 100 block of Center Avenue. The first arriving officer found the vehicle at the gas pumps and the driver had momentarily passed out, behind the wheel, while pumping gas and had open intoxicants in the vehicle. The driver, Demone Shaw, smelled of the odor of intoxicants and admitted to drinking. Field sobriety test were started but he was unable to complete them. He was placed under arrest for OWI. Shaw had four prior OWI convictions and was currently on parole for his latest OWI arrest and conviction.
Shaw submitted to an evidentiary chemical test of his blood and the results are pending. He was taken to the Rock County Jail where he is being held on the felony OWI arrest and the parole violation.
